I-Cord Tassel Hat

Materials:

Size 8 circular needle (16)

Yarn in three colors to match sweater

Stitch marker

Needle

For child sized 18 months to 3 years

Cast on 70 stitches with Color A (main color)

and place marker, join w/o twisting

Rows 1, 3, and 5: Knit

Rows 2, 4, and 6 : Purl

Attach color B

Row 7-10 : with color B Knit

Fasten off B

With color A

Rows 11-16: repeat Rows 1-6

Attach color C

Rows 17-20 : knit

Fasten off color C

Rows 21-26: with A repeat Rows 1-6

Row 27: Knit

Repeat row 27 until hat measures 5 and ½".

Begin Decreasing for top of hat.

Row 1: K 5, K2 tog, repeat around

Row 2: K4, K2 tog

Row 3: K3, K 2 tog

Row 4: K2 , K 2 tog

Row 5: K 1, K 2 tog

Row 6 : K 2 tog, until only three stitches remain. Knit remaining stitches into an I-cord until it is 6 long. K2 tog until only 1 stitch remains. Fasten off and tuck end up into I-cord.

Make a 12"  I-cord out of each color and fasten to the top at the half way mark.
