So glad you could join us!  We are a group of ladies who will be knitting the Baby Surprise Sweater by Elizabeth Zimmermann.  It is a fun, unusual, interesting, and "crazy looking while in progress" baby sweater.  It can be made in three different sizes by simply changing needle size and type of yarn.

Size 3 or 4 needles and shetland jumper weight will make a newborn sized sweater.

Size 6 or 7 needles and sport weight yarn will make a sweater for  a 1 yr. old

Size 8 or 9 needles will fit an 18 month old to 2 yr. old

Any number of 1/2" to 3/4" buttons up to five. The pattern calls for five but, I will be using only two on my sweater.  Island Knitter says she often only puts one at the top and I often use just two fancy ones since that is what comes in the package.  Choose wisely because if you look at Island Knitter's sweaters , you'll see they really make the sweater darling.

You can even use a heavy weight yarn like Lion Brand Homespun and larger needles to get a size 3
